Frequently Asked Questions

"Why Top Hand?"
Scripture tells us in Matthew 28:19-20 to go and make disciples, and this is the trail for "Top Hand". Scripture does not tell us to fill the church or make church members. It says to make disciples.

To be a Top Hand on a ranch or in the arena means that the cowboy or cowgirl knows and does everything that needs to be done to accomplish the tasks set before them. They have grown in their ability to listen, do and help others to focus on their daily tasks as well.

Top Hands help others to know and do the will of God by accomplishing the task of walking daily with the Lord.

"What denomination is Top Hand Cowboy Church?"
Although Top Hand is affiliated with the Baptist General Convention of Texas, it functions as an interdenominational fellowship gladly welcoming anyone who has accepted Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior, been scripturally baptized by immersion, and accepts the basic teachings of Christianity into it's membership.

"How should I dress at Top Hand Cowboy Church?"
The majority of people at Top Hand will wear boots and jeans, many will wear hats or caps, and some will wear shorts. All of these are appropriate. The bottom line: wear whatever is comfortable to you. There is no pretense here. At Top Hand we make ourselves at home with God and each other.

"Do I have to be a cowboy to attend Top Hand Cowboy Church?"
Absolutely not!! Although many cowboys, cowgirls, and other horse enthusiasts attend Top Hand, our members come from every background and walk of life. If you would rather wear jeans than dress up, if you enjoy country or blue grass gospel music, if you like rubbing elbows with plain down to earth people, and if you want clear simple sermons you can actually understand, you will love Top Hand.
